What's InsideFlyball.com

IN THE MAY ’08 / JUNE ’08 ISSUE: Spring is here and summer is in our sight. Many clubs will be practicing indoors to escape the heat this summer while others will move outside to enjoy the great, sunny outdoors. Many clubs across the country will be competing in U-FLI™ Qualifiers (there are three more before the Championships) and others will just be embracing the multitude of summer tournaments. In this month’s issue you will be inspired by Blur, the fastest U-FLI™ singles racer on record. You will also meet the Blockade Runners from Raleigh, North Carolina, a club that actually has roots that go way back but who are relative newcomers to U-FLI™. You will get a quick glimpse into the Western Qualifier held May 3rd and 4th in Ventura, CA. And don’t miss photos of the All-Kids team that took Iowa by storm. Robbie and Sonya Barton field an important box work/striding question that many of us ponder. Enjoy this all-new issue May/June issue and stay in touch over the summer!

Your photos, training questions and stories are always welcome. Please send them to us at admin@insideflyball.com.

Blockade Runners
Raleigh, North Carolina

The Blockade Runners are a small group of handlers that get together to train their Flyball dogs and otherwise just to have a good time. The Blockade Runners was founded in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1996 by Mike Randall. Mike was originally with the Front Runners Flyball team based out of Michigan. No stranger to Flyball, Mike has been involved since its earliest days and even wrote a training manual in 1987.

The first person to join the Blockade Runners Flyball team was Charlene Saunders with her Border Collie, Brodie, in 1996. They now roster 23 dogs and have 10 handlers.

Flyball At The Beach
Ventura, CA

Amidst fragrant roses, with seagulls flying overhead and the occasional sound of the surf crashing in the distance, the Western qualifier took place at Seaside Park at the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, CA over the May 3rd/4th weekend. With RV camping just steps from the spacious air conditioned Santa Cruz Hall, clubs from three states met to race it out for divisional placements for the October U-FLI™ Championships taking place in October in Memphis, TN.
